See How a Wrestler's Eye Was Nearly Removed From the Socket During a Fight (Photos)

A wrestler and fighter has been handed the shocker of his life after an opponent nearly gouged out his eyes with his bare hands during a vicious wrestling match.
Matt Mitrione's eyes was nearly removed during a fight

An UFC fighter's eye was grossly disfigured during a wrestling bout. Matt Mitrione was seen nursing a grossly disfigured eye after a fight with Ronda Rousey's boyfriend, Travis Browne. Still, the heavyweight brawler seems to have sustained most damage from a blow during the third round after alleging that his opponent poked his eyes trying to gouge it out.

That same round, the ref at UFC Fight Night 81 stopped the carnage, handing Browne the victory. And footage from after shows Mitrione pacing the octagon with a horrifically swollen eye. Now the 37-year-old fighter has taken to social media to blame the earlier eye pokes. He wrote on Twitter that he sustained a shoulder injury and his had an orbital blowout fracture.

"This and the shoulder happened after the 2nd eye poke," he said. "I don't think they would've happened. With everything that happened tonight, I need to state that the UFC has taken great care of me tonight. Thank you."
