Read Eye Witness Account of Festac Bank Robbery

A set of armed robbers this morning in military uniforms stormed Festac town, where they robbed three major banks on 4th avenue, Festac road, Amuwo Odofin LGA.

Earlier today, Dare devil armed robbers clad in military uniforms laid seige on three commercial banks on 4th avenue in Festac town, Lagos at about 7:30am, holding customers and residents hostage.
 
The operation reportedly lasted for two hours as they gain access into the banks after blowing up their security doors. The banks they raided are; Diamond Bank, FinBank and Access Bank.
 
According to residents, the police was nowhere to be found during the over two hours the robbery lasted and only surfaced when the bandits had left. It was gathered that while some of them escaped through a canal at 6th Avenue with speed boats, others drove through the 23 Road, shooting sporadically as they carted away huge sums of money in ghana-must-go bags.
 
 
Below are eye witness accounts gathered on social media;
 
"The robbers escaped in a boat through the 6th avenue canal...spray bullets killed some people. shops and cars were also affected, with bullet holes. The crime scene is a horrendous one. this is so sad.
 
"A woman and her child were also affected.The woman was upstairs,using her camera phone to film the robbery.one of them climbed the stairs,shot and killed her instantly. Her child was shot in the neck,but survived and has been rushed to the hospital.so sad," Njoku Ngozi Ihuoma wrote on facebook.
 
"Its terible,one of d victim is at holy cross hospital now, receiving treatment..d bullet went tru is stomach..its nt funny," Ola Oseyemi wrote.
 
"The road is empty at the moment. Everyone is hiding now. The gunshots were scary. They escaped through the canal and through 23 Road. The police did not show face while the robbery lasted," a resident told correspondent.
