Everyone including the children need rest. It is on this note that the Ministry of Education approves schools holidays for schools after completion of schools curriculum for approved stipulated period to enable them take their rest and prepare them for another school year.

There is no gain saying that that has become periods for more lessons and intensive academic programmes popularly known as  "Holiday Lessons" . A visit to some schools and lesson centers show children engaging in holiday lessons shortly after the end of the term, when they are supposed to rest.

The question is, how do the children feel themselves engaging in another academic activities when they are supposed to be resting at home. One of the Teachers Mr. Martins Johnson speaks on the importance of engaging children in holiday lessons.

From the experts point of view, it is not proper to engage children in strict academic programme during holidays, but for activities like excursion, practicals, games to release them from stress, adding that too much academic work without rest can adversely affect the child’s health.
