Some children in Ibadan have been pictured endangering their lives as they took to a dangerous canal to have what is supposedly some fun.
Photos showing children swimmig in a carnal in the Dandaru area of Ibadan in Oyo state has been described as one of the worst exposures to danger.
The water is notorioius for harbouring dangerous snakes, according to residents. But the kids are quite oblivious to that fact as they swim away the afternoon.
The children seemed not be aware of the danger posed by swimming in the algae-infested water. The excitement in them as they plunge into unhygienic water evidently shows they are unaware of the negative effect of engaging in the act.
Because the water comes from different places and is deposited in the canal, the level of danger increases as the water inadvertently enters their mouth.
The risk of foreign elements penetrating the body is also high in the water but for these Ibadan children, its just another day in an open public pool.
