Court remands a 25-year-old unemployed for alleged defilement

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded a 25-year-old unemployed man, Ogboru Godspower, in Kirikiri Prison for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old 
neighbour’s daughter.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, remanded the accused after he pleaded guilty to the charge against him.
Elias adjourned the case till Aug. 19 for sentencing.
The accused, who lives at 30, Egbin Sand filled Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos, was arraigned on a one-count charge of defilement.
Prosecutor Jimah Iseghede told the court that the offence was committed on Aug. 8 at the accused residence.
Iseghede told the court that the victim was on her way to take her bath when the accused way laid her, removed her towel and defiled her.
It was a neighbour who saw the accused in the act that alerted the whole house,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
