The speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has challenged US authorities to provide evidence against the members of House of Representatives it accused of s*xual misconduct.

The Speaker of House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara has challenged the United States officials to provide fool-proof evidence that the lawmakers indeed committed the crimes they are accused of.
The speaker made this clear in a number of tweets on Saturday. He urged the US to provide Closed-circuit television footage indicting the lawmakers. He wrote: "This assertion is at best preposterous until we see the CCT footage. If you have it please send it to us."
According to him, "under our laws an accused person is deemed innocent until proven guilty and he enjoys the benefit of any doubt".
He however assured he will get to the root of the matter saying: "Together with the US Embassy in Nigeria we'll get to the bottom of this matter and until then let's not be judgmental."
It would be recalled that on June 9, 2016, US ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, had written to House of Reps speaker, Yakubu Dogara over allegations of sexual misconduct by three House of Representative members who visited the United States.
Mohammed Gololo (APC-Bauchi State) was accused of grabbing a hotel maid and soliciting s*x, while two others, Samuel Ikon (PDP-Akwa Ibom) and Mark Gbillah (APC-Benue State) allegedly requested a car park attendant to help them arrange the services of prostitutes during a visit to Cleveland for the International Visitor Leadership Programme.
