Failure to Appease Lagoon Goddess Responsible for Helicopter Crash - Oba of Oworo

Traditional ruler of Oworonsoki, stated that the Helicopter crash on Wednesday in Lagos happened because the government no longer appeases the sea goddess.

The Traditional ruler of Oworonsoki, Oba Basiru Oloruntoyin Saliu, has spoken to correspondents on what is responsible for the tragic helicopter accident yesterday, very close to the popular 3rd Mainland bridge, Lagos. (Read here)

The Oba who deployed all of his chiefs and princes to the scene to assist in the rescue operation as soon as the incident occurred, lamented that a total collapse of traditional rites in the area is responsible for the accident.

He said:"The government no longer pays attention to traditional rites which is necessary to prevent such occurrences. For instance, how many times have we appeased the goddess this year?
"An occurrence like this may be caused by the goddess because no human being can depict the depth of the lagoon; but if the goddess is appeased, she would have prevented such occurrence."
